Most of the sites I design these days I create in Wix. Wix is a website builder, this makes it easy to edit and it's very reasonably priced. A basic site is about $27 a month including many great business features like basic e-commerce and email auto replies.

The site below, on the left is the site I chose as a starting point for a woman's small, solo counseling practice for singles, couples and groups.
Based on the goal of being welcoming and more personable than the example site I softened up the font choices and colors, but not too much, it needs to remain professional so they are a bit muted. I changed all the photos of course, and created the copy with Claude A.I., here's the break down:

What's so great about Wix?
Wix, like Canva is both a template based design system AND a basic design app. If you love the template and replace the words and elements with what is there as closely as possible (amount of type, quality and type of images) you will be happy with the results.

One of the best things about Wix is what it includes and the fact that you don't need to rely on outside services and apps. I have a lot of websites in Wix and one in Shopify, the one Shopify site requires the most babysitting. Every few months I get messages about apps and plugins that require updates or payment, Wix must update automatically because the only updates I hear about are yearly billing. And no, you do not need to pay yearly if you cannot afford it yet. Starting a business has a lot of startup costs, sometimes you need smaller payments, here's how you do it.
Wix is free to try and I'm not talking about that free trial business, it's a free site with a wixsite.com url you can play around with as long as you like. If you love it and want to add your own domain you can just upgrade that same site.​
